Phil Mulacek founded InterOil and served as its chairman and chief executive during its formative years. The company developed refining, downstream and exploration activities in Papua New Guinea.
The exploration chapter
InterOil publicly recognized Phil’s contribution to the exploration program that led to the Elk–Antelope and Triceratops discoveries. He retired as chief executive in April 2013.
A lasting company history
ExxonMobil completed its acquisition of InterOil on February 22, 2017. That transaction is a later chapter in the company’s history, separate from Phil’s executive tenure.
